Cecily Ellis-Bills


Cecily Ellis-Bills holds a performers diploma in musical theater from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from the University of Utah. A student of Dr. Robert Breault and Jennifer Welch-Babidge she has performed across the country in opera, operetta and musical theater. She has been seen in the Utah Lyric opera ensemble as ‘Amy’ in Little Women, ‘Cunegonde’ in Candide, and‘La Ciesca’ in Gianni Schicci. Other opera roles include ‘Nerone’ in L’incoriazionne di Poppea with La Musica Lirica. Cecily has sung as a soloist with the Utah Symphony’s Salute to Youth progam conducted by Keith Lockhart, played the role of the ‘Dew Fairy’ in Utah Opera’s 2008 Halloween Concert of Hansel and Gretel, and was featured as a soloist for the Christmas Pops concert with Jerry Steichen in 2009. As a cast member of the Ohio Light Opera from 2007-2010 Cecily played the such roles as ‘Rose Mae Bud’ in Gilbert and Sullivans Ruddigor, and the title role in Patience and is featured in company’s recording of both operetta’s on the Albany recording label. She also received an encouragement award at the Met National Council Auditions in the Utah District in 2007. In the land of Musical Theater Cecily has worked in regional theater across the United states. She originated the role of ‘Elsa’ in the Equity world premiere of Sheldon Harnick’s Musical Dragons with Luna Stage in Montclair New Jersey. Some of her favorite roles include: ‘Louis,’ Gypsy, ‘Magnolia,’ Show Boat, ‘Cinderella, Into the Woods, ‘Jo’ Little Women: The Musical, ‘Johanna’ Sweeney Todd, ‘Lily’ The Secret Garden, ‘Aldonza’ Man of La Mancha, ‘Woman #1’ Songs for a New World, ‘Polly Baker’ Crazy for You, and ‘Narrator’ Joseph. She has performed on the stage of Radio City Music Hall and can be seen in Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with guest Renee Fleming in 2005 and Sissel in 2006. She can also be seen in the Liken film Daniel and the Lions as Dorcus. Cecily is a music specialist in the University of Utah’s Theater Dept as well as adjunct voice faculty at Utah Valley University.
